Senate Confirms New Federal Reserve Positions

The president commends the approval of the vice chair and new governor.

The Senate confirmed Philip Jefferson and Lisa Cook to positions in the Federal Reserve. Jefferson, a former Fed governor, was confirmed as the board’s new vice chair in a show of bipartisan support. Cook was confirmed as a new Federal Reserve Governor, making her the first black woman to serve on the board.

“I applaud the Senate for confirming my superbly qualified nominees to the Federal Reserve Board of Governors on a bipartisan basis,” President Joe Biden said after the Senate’s votes. “With the confirmation of these outstanding economists to the Federal Reserve, the American people can be confident that the Fed’s important mission remains in good hands.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Senators as they vote on individuals for confirmed positions in the U.S. government.
  • For wisdom for Senate committee members as they hold hearings for nominees.
  • For God to work through the president’s nomination process to appoint those who will glorify Him.
